Guilotine (2018-19, 2023)
Frameing hand built from misc lumber found in garage, including previously usedlandscaping timber, and more. The blade is actually cardboard covered with “Diamond Plate” foil-stick material. Existing animated Skeleton was repurposed.
Actived by a wireless Keyfob, the routine began with the Skeleton speaking a ‘Vincent Price’ excerpt from “Thiller”, during which the “Zombe” is making ugly noises. The skeleton lowers it’s arm, and the blade is released. The head lowers to the ground. Later, the blade and head return to the original lifted levels.
Guilotine blade ‘lifted’ was initially lifted using a ‘linear actuator’, laterreplaced with pneumatics (shown). Once the blade is lifted, it is latched open, and the lift-mechanism retracts.
The ‘Head’ is lifted similarly, latching upon lift, and the mech retracts.LOR hardware controls operation, iniated via a RF remote keyfob.
The Skeleton began as a simple Home
Depot posable Halloween Skeleton. RC servos were embedded into the shoulders, controlling both arms. A servo was instaslled, attaching skull to the body.
The Skull itself was modified by installing Lg LEDs into the eye sockets, installing a servo to control the jaw, and a battery powered speaker was embedded into the skull. All devices controlled by a LOR Servo-Dog attachedto the spine.
